Stephani Scruggs - President

Stephani Scruggs is a Systems Consultant with a 20 year history of sales, marketing, and business management.  The skills learned in the free market have helped immensely in the realm of grassroots ideals.  She has appeared on the Glenn Beck Show as well regional radio shows to discuss the importance of the American Constitution and the rights it grants it’s citizens.

While always somewhat interested in politics, it was the Bush years that set Stephani on the course of activism.  Realizing the potentially dangerous applications of the Patriot Act, not to mention the unconstitutionality of it’s provisions; Stephani began paying much closer attention to the growth of the Federal Government.  By the time TARP was released and General Motors taken over; she was ready to take on the establishment and actively work to save the Constitution and American Liberty.  Stephani now acts as the National Co-Chair of The 912 Project as well as the President of Unite In Action.

Debbie Gunnoe - VP Operations

Debbie retired from the US Air Force in 2008 as a lieutenant colonel. For 28 years, she willingly gave up a portion of her Constitutional right of free speech in order to serve her country…she couldn’t publicly speak out against her government or commander-in-chief. But she took an oath to protect and defend the US Constitution…an oath without an expiration date, and one she took seriously. So after the sharp socialist shift following the 2008 election, she became earnestly involved in the conservative grassroots movement to save the Constitution and thus our country.

Initially she was an organizer with the Montgomery (Alabama) Tea Party Patriots, where she helped organize two rallies, an educational forum on the US Constitution, and pursued legislative changes at the Alabama State House. Then in January of 2010, she founded the Navarre Patriots in her current hometown of Navarre, Florida.

The Navarre Patriots were successful in educating their local community on candidates for the November midterm elections, state sovereignty, and numerous issues where Floridians’ rights were being eradicated. They are currently involved in proposing bills to their state legislators for submission to the Florida House and Senate to reverse these issues.

Jay Devereaux - Director Digital Systems

Jay is an Information Technology Consultant and small business owner that like so many of us, did not really pay a lot of attention to what was going on in Washington DC until ideas like Cap & Trade and T.A.R.P. The idea of the Federal Government bailing out bankers and Wall Street firms with taxpayer dollars was the last straw. Followed closely by the first stimulus package, Jay like so many was yelling at his television similar to Rick Santelli’s now famous rant, when his family cried “ENOUGH! Do something about it or shut up!” which they later came to regret.

After going to his first rally on Tax Day 2009 in Olympia and later in Seattle Jay began to try networking with others in his state and found a lack of coordinated information and communication. Upon returning from having volunteered at the hugely successful 9/12/2009 Taxpayer March On DC, Jay met with a few fellow conservatives and presented an idea to network the smaller groups in WA state. After a few meetings, together with the help of many leaders, the Washington Patriot Hub* was created as a communication and networking conduit for groups throughout Washington.

Like Unite In Action, the success and popularity of the Washington Patriot Hub is largely due to a true bottom up network where organizations maintain their autonomy and identity while working with other like minded groups and individuals to more effectively bring resources to bear and to support of each other’s initiatives. In late 2009 Jay was invited to join the Board of Directors for UIA and manages to organizations various websites and social networking presence. *(now a project of UIA that is to re-launch as a national initiative this summer)

Larry Burton - Director Finances/Treasurer

Larry Burton, formerly the CFO of The National 912 Project, Inc. became the CFO of Unite In Action, Inc since its formation in November of 2009. Larry has a BBA from the Univ. of Cincinnati and an MBA from the Univ of Utah. He is an Alumni of Deloitte CPA firm.

He also is a retired Air Force Colonel who briefed Generals and Congressional staffers on the financial status of military systems under development.

Larry, owner of a small business, spoke at a Tea Party event about his concerns over Government financial mismanagement. Larry and his wife, Kay, have a family of Jeff & Jamie (and first grandchild, Shay) and Julie and Bob.

Deborah Behrend - DIRECTOR FINANCES

Deborah is a home schooling mom who is very concerned about what is happening to our country. Not just the immediate impact but also how it will affect her children and their future. Leaving a 20+ year career in Finance after having earned an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, MBA from the University of Maryland and her CPA was a very difficult decision. But she chose to invest her time and efforts in her children as well as in our country through her efforts with Unite in Action. She lives her life dedicated to the belief that one person can and should try to make a difference.

Jerry Thompson - Director Legal Affairs

Jerry Thompson is an attorney currently in private practice in Michigan. He holds a Masters degree in public policy in addition to his law degree. He is a former professor of law who taught courses in constitutional law, legal history and jurisprudence. He has written numerous articles and essays on legal subjects. He is the founder of the Lonang Institute, at www.lonang.com.

Mr. Thompson’s primary interest in joining the current patriot movement is to restore public fidelity to the U.S. Constitution as a document of enumerated and limited powers only, the Declaration of Independence as a document of legal principles (not mere political expediency), and the laws of nature and nature’s God as the true legal context of our nation upon which everything else is based.
